Expectation is two sides at least. Such a really good - and philosophical poem.

Thanks Patris!

A profound poem really, as good as anything I have read that tries to make comprehensible the mystery of what is a poem. I have always felt I never knew why a poem does what it does but I do know what it makes me feel, just like a powerful song or a piece of art that makes you cry and you don't know why and you don't care why. Thanks Brian.

Brian, this simple cardboard box makes me think about the beauty of constraint.

It was a gift itself.

This box you hold

of greatest value,

perched now

on the corner

of where you live

your life.

I’m so glad you shared this, I had not thought about that angle. I’ll take a look at it again with that lense!

This is one to keep rereading.

Echo what Patris says regarding expectation. I think you really captured that here.

"And the space between / spoke all that was never said"

This is a lovely line that holds much.

But I also like this sense of future looking back that comes with "It was a gift itself. / This box you hold / of greatest value".

This one would serve well as a Memory for next year 😉
